Scholarship Award

The Defense Investigators Association (DIA) may award two annual scholarships in conjunction with the Spring and Fall Seminars to qualified members who meet the application qualifications. The scholarships will be awarded by vote of the DIA board members (board members are not eligible to apply). The award will consist of a waived conference fee. The DIA may additionally award one scholarship for a Defense Investigators Training Accreditation (DITA) course, upon vote of the board members. In that event, the tuition for the DITA course will be waived for the scholarship recipient.

Eligibility Requirements:

The applicant must be an active member or associate member in good standing with the association who demonstrates a financial need or hardship as well as an interest in participating in a particular conference or a DIA conference in general.

Application Procedure and Requirements:

The applicant must submit a:

  1. A cover letter with your interest in obtaining a scholarship
  2. A 300 word essay describing the need, and the desire for a scholarship
  3. Two letters of recommendation from investigator supervisors, defense attorneys, current DIA members or DIA board members.

Scholarship request for DIA Spring Seminar, May 20 & 21, 2010, is due 30 days before seminar.  Include the following in your cover letter:
